The makers of the upcoming crime thriller, Gumraah, have finally released the teaser of the movie, leaving fans excited for the intense face-off between the lead stars, Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur. The movie, which is a remake of the 2019 Tamil film Thadam, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, will mark Aditya and Mrunal’s first collaboration with each other.
Aditya will be seen playing a double role for the first time in the movie, which has already piqued the interest of his fans. In the teaser, we hear Aditya’s monologue as he promises to avenge someone and speaks about the pain and beating he has endured. Slowly, we also see Aditya as another character embroiled in a case. Mrunal, on the other hand, will be seen playing the role of a police officer who is determined to find the culprit.
Earlier, Aditya had spoken about Thadam and his double role in the movie, stating that “As an actor, getting a chance to do a double role is double the preparation and double the challenge, and I’m certainly up for it!”. The movie also stars Ronit Roy, and is directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar.
Gumraah is scheduled to hit theaters on April 7, 2023, and is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. The movie is already making headlines for its unique promotional tactics, which included teasing fans with a promise to release the teaser, only to reveal an intriguing poster instead.
Mrunal Thakur, who is playing the role of a police officer for the first time ever on screen, had reunited with her co-star Aditya Roy Kapur last year in Delhi while shooting for the movie. Aditya was in the city to promote his upcoming release, Om, and Mrunal had extended her support and wished him luck for the movie.
Talking about her character in Gumraah, the Super 30 actress had earlier said, “My character is very intriguing and playing a cop has been on my checklist. This will be a very distinct role from all the characters I have played till now and I am looking forward to audiences watching this one.”
The Tamil film Thadam had received critical acclaim and commercial success upon its release, and it will be interesting to see how Gumraah, the Hindi remake, will be received by the audience.
